Gold Moonstone Ring

I was recently commissioned to make a ring for some friends whose daughter was celebrating her 21^st birthday. She knew exactly what she wanted, a white opaque moonstone cabochon in a simple 9ct yellow gold setting, on a round section ring. 

It looks stunning on her long slender fingers!

Silver Wedding Anniversary Candlesticks

A friend of mine, Steve, wanted to make a special gift for his brothers 25th Wedding Anniversary. He had turned some oak from a tree in his garden (which he had planted)  and he wanted something silver added. 

Together we came up with the idea of inlaying strips of fine silver into the wood.

In case you hadn't worked it out, the message is in morse code - their initials G and S, the numbers 2 and 5,  and of course the eternal ring of love.

And finally, sealed with a layer of wax which brings out the beautiful grain.

Bird Photography

With my new camera I’m obsessed with chasing birds in flight. The ones pecking round my garden are easy to catch, the ones in the air more elusive.

  I especially like the silhouettes they make in the early evening light. 

They’ve inspired some new jewellery.

FlourishRing

A stacking ring specially made for Kath Libbert Jewellery Gallery "FlourishRing" exhibition. Made from silver, oxidised silver and 18ct yellow gold.

New Workbench

Wow that month went fast! I cant believe its been over a month since I started this blog and this is only my second post. Must do better this month... My excuse is its school holidays and the kids are taking up all my time!

One exciting piece of news is that I'm having a new jewellery bench made. Its being made by the lovely Tony at Craft Benches UK and it's almost finished! Heres a sneaky peek of it still being made:

Its made from pine with a European Oak top. It truly is a bespoke desk, Tony has been fantastic! Everything I asked for, Tony very kindly obliged. He even duplicated my old peg, making an exact replica in oak! Look!

Some other news is that as well as my etsy shop I now have a Coriandr shop. It's similar to etsy but is British and therefore the currency is in pounds. Etsy is American and I think the currency was offputting to British customers.

Hello everyone. Thought I'd join the 21st century and create a blog. So many new things have happened recently I feel a need to share, so here goes!

I've recently opened an etsy shop to sell my jewellery, the address is sarabuk.etsy.com.

The etsy shop is the culmination of 2 years studying for a Foundation Degree, not in making jewellery, but in learning how to have a successful jewellery business. I've actually been making for about 10 years and selling to friends and family. About 2 years ago a local shop, Art Parade in Saltaire, West Yorkshire, started to sell my jewellery and it suddenly felt real! I've passed my course now so its time to concentrate on making a go of it.

My end of year exhibition was held at Dean Clough Gallery in Halifax, West Yorkshire. You can see our website here.
